Stolen Songbird was my favorite book of 2014 and I have been eagerly awaiting Hidden Huntress and was very excited to receive an advanced reader copy. Hidden Huntress begins with Cecile and Tristan separated after the events of the end of Stolen Songbird. Cecile lives in Trianon with her mother and is performing at the opera. Tristan is imprisoned by his father and faces danger at every turn in Trollus, where the conflict between the trolls and half-bloods, and the royal family grows more dire everyday. Cecile, however, hasn't given up on Tristan or her friends back in Trollus and continues to desperately search out the witch Anushka, while grappling with what the ramifications of breaking the troll's curse would be. Hidden Huntress is told in a split narrative, alternating between Cecile's and Tristan's point of views and events in the human world and Trollus. Jensen remains an incredibly descriptive writer and the book moves quickly with more than enough plot twists regarding Anushka and her curse on the trolls. Cecile and Tristan's relationship continues to develop and their characters were wonderfully written. The only thing I would have liked more of was some of the supporting players we meet in Stolen Songbird, Marc and the twins, have much smaller roles in Hidden Huntress. Overall, an outstanding second book with a climax that perfectly sets up the third book in the series. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.
